Professor Kate Mcgrath’s extensive career in commercialisation is shown through her numerous current and past positions. Kate is currently the Director of Callaghan Innovation, Director of Auramer Bio Ltd and the Chair of VicLink Ltd, the commercialisation arm of Victoria University of Wellington.
Kate also has an impressive research career. In 2011 Kate was awarded professorship and became the director of the Macdairmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. While in that role Kate took the position of Vice-Provost (Research) at Victoria University of Wellington. Exemplifying her impressive research career, Kate has been awarded the Easterfield Medal by the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry and United Kingdom Royal Society of Chemistry, the Research Medal by the New Zealand Association of Scientists and the wellington City Council Inspire Wellington Award.
Continually focussed on the need for commercial know how in research, Kate Mcgrath led the charge in creating the Masters of Advanced Technology Enterprise course at the Victoria University of Wellington which aims to grow the innovative and entrepreneurial skills of research students.
