Edward is a qualified medical physician with many years experience in health consulting , pharmaceutical development and clinical trail research. He holds several directorships in New Zealand based companies spanning medical evacuation services in the Pacific, Principal investigator at South Pacific Clinical Trials and as a director of the health consulting company Nazadel.
He has local senior level management experience in several US based pharmaceutical companies and has been chief operating officer of Medtral Limited.
Currently Edward is a board member of Melanoma New Zealand. he is also been an Assessor for the Ministry of Business and Innovation and Employment (MBIE) with regards to high value manufacturing and exports for 4 years.
His consultancy experience encompasses many broad areas in health including:
- development of pharmaceutical models for reimbursement (Canada, New Zealand)
- product in licensing and funding (New Zealand , Australia)
- product development boards and commercialization.
- health insurance (USA, New Zealand and Pacific Islands)
- cancer stakeholder engagement strategies
- primary care health strategy development
His clinical trial experience extends from being the Principal Investigator for Phase I to Phase Iv in multiple therapeutic areas and has been on the safety boards for several multinational cancer trials in the Asia pacific region including Japan.
He has past board experience on many industry, university and New Zealand government boards focused on the commercialisation of health including:
-The Schering Plough Science Alliance (4 years) Biotechnology partnering
-The University Of Auckland Return on Science Biotech and Life Science (3 years)-
Edwards interests include: health management, clinical research, pharmaceutical product development and access to health services for remote communities.
